The banning was due to the mod containing “code designed to facilitate piracy” according to Rockstar. In August, the creators of the mod FiveM – an alternate version of GTA Online that ran separately from Rockstar’s servers – were banned from Rockstar Social Club and couldn’t play the game any more. A Grand Theft Auto V modder claimed on reddit that Take-Two sent private detectives to his house in an apparent attempt to intimidate him into ceasing all development on his mods.
